I had a good chuckle when one of my clients shared this quote about leading change with me last week.
The question for leaders is who do you invite into the new room first?
And have you been clear whether the door is one way or two, i.e. if you go thru the door can you back out if necessary?
This may sound contrary to the 'burn the ships' thinking of yesteryear however in an exponentially changing world we all know it is getting increasingly difficult to predict the future.
Making small bets by experimenting with new approaches is your way around change in uncertain times, but to do so your people need to know that the doors they are going thru are two way if you get your bet wrong.
