You can do anything, but not everything

"You can do anything, but not everything." David Allen

Busy-ness is the enemy of business.

I have been trying for the last couple of years to stop using the word 'busy'.

But its hard.

The problem is the more I use it the less I am taking personal responsibility for finding a better way.

Jeff Bezos reportedly starts every day waking naturally (not to an alarm) and enjoying a leisurely morning of reading the paper and having breakfast with his kids before school. He starts work no earlier than 10am prioritising his 'high IQ' meetings before lunch and aims to finish work no later than 5pm. Quality sleep is one of his top priorities.

Bill Gates regularly factored in 'deep thinking' time when running Microsoft to unclutter his mind and slow down.

Apple's success under Jobs had much to do with what they didn't do in order to stay focused.

If Bezos, Gates and Jobs strived to be less busy, maybe we should too.

My quest to be purposeful and productive, not busy, continues. Good luck on yours.
