Success is increasingly dependent on how we interact with others

"For generations, we have focused on the individual drivers of success [ ]. But today, success is increasingly dependent on how we interact with others."Adam Grant

Tenfold Tips provide daily inspiration to tenfold your leadership impact & lives.

Today's tip is from Organisational Psychologist at Wharton Business School Adam Grant.

In a hyper-networked world where the half-life of information is rapidly declining the importance of how you interact with others is essential.

Grant's research points to the fact that most of us resort to our 'strong ties' when we are facing a challenge or seeking to innovate, i.e. our friends, family & trusted colleagues.

That feels great but "our closest contacts tend to know the same people & information as we do."

On the other hand "weak ties travel in different circles & learn different things, so they can offer us more efficient access to novel information" according to Grant.

#COVID19 has made many of the old business playbooks redundant. Leaders that draw their strength from 'strong ties' & share ideas & experiences with 'weak ties' will fair best.
