A great clip from the Silicon Valley archives about Steve Jobs aged 12 calling up Bill Hewlett after getting his number from the phone book to ask if he had any spare parts to build a frequency counter (what ever that is).
What have you got to lose?
What might you and others potentially gain?
If Steve had not rung Bill he would not have got a job with HP over that summer.
That job set him on a path that ultimately resulted in creating the world's most valuable company.
Clearly there is more to building Apple than 'just asking' but this simple action, when done with a win:win mindframe, can be life changing.
